Flip Flop Hop Table Runner Quilt Along - Tour de Fabric 2025

Thanks for joining me for this summer's Flip Flop Hop Table Runner Quilt Along and Tour de Fabric! I am looking forward to quilting with you to make this fun summer table runner. Here are the details for the quilt along. 

Quilt Along Schedule

Each Tuesday in July, I'll share a step to help you create your table runner. Here's our schedule: 

Week 1 - Tuesday, July 1 - Gather and cut fabrics. 

Week 2 - Tuesday, July 8 - Appliqueing the flip flop motifs. Hand-cut the appliques or use a die cutting machine to cut the motifs. Learn two different raw edge applique stitches, too! 

Week 3 - Tuesday, July 15 - Adding borders. 

Week 4 - Tuesday, July 22 - Quilting and finishing your table runner.

Week 5 - Tuesday, July 29 - Zoom Reveal Party! Let's gather and check out our adorable table runners!

Fabric Requirements

Raid your scrap stash or fat quarters for the flip flop appliques! 

  • 1/2 yard background fabric. I used white cotton fabric. 
  • 6 - fat eighths or pieces of fabric minimum of 4" x 8" (10cm x 20xm) for flip flops applique pieces. I used colorful batiks. 
  • 6 - 4" (10cm) squares of solid fabric to coordinate with flip flop fabric for the shoe straps. 
  • 1/2" yard HeatnBond Lite Fabric Adhesive 
  • 1 yard fabric for the inner border, backing, and binding. 
  • Matching thread
  • 1 1/4 yard for backing fabric.
  • 1/4 yard for the binding fabric.
  • Quilt batting to fit project. 

Colorways Ideas

This pattern is great for any bright, summery prints. I chose batiks for my table runner, but I think fun summer prints would work great. Beach-inspired prints would be great, too. Think about what patterns or designs might be fun on flip flops. Have fun and see what delights you!

The Flip Flop Hop Table Runner Quilt Along is part of this year's Tour de Fabric event.
