About Me

Hello! Thanks for stopping by! Here's a little bit about me...

I've been sewing for over 20 years and quilting for over 8 years. I started sewing as a child thanks to my creative grandmothers and mother. These wonderful women would spend hours with me making many fun sewing projects. I was also a 4-H kid with great projects leaders who taught me a lot. Sewing didn’t always come easy to me. I got a lot of red ribbons at the county fair those first young years. But over time I earned my champion ribbons as I took the time to learn more and practiced my crafting skills.

My love of creating inspired my college studies. I'm a Kansas State alum with a degree in Human Ecology & Mass Communications with an emphasis on clothing and textiles. I took so many good sewing and design classes there! Instead of pursuing a design job, I opted to start my career as a Family & Consumer Extension Agent in Morton County, Kansas. This was one of the best jobs I've ever had! Someone once called me the Martha Stewart of Morton County and I loved it!

Creating became a serious hobby for me when I got married, moved to Denver, and changed careers. I worked in the affordable housing industry for many years and sewing was such a great stress reliever. I began to teach and design patterns for fun. Over time, I realized that I was more passionate about my creative work and was beginning to get burned out on my nonprofit career.

I left my nonprofit career in 2018 and set up my longarm quilting business in 2020. In 2021, I combined my passion for community service and quilting and served as the Exective Director of the Quilts of Valor Foundation until the end of 2023. I was honored to work with quilters across the U.S. to create and award Quilts of Valor.

Colorado Threadworks is a new chapter where I'm back to focusing solely on longarm quilting and design. I've met so many quilters across the U.S. the past two years that have inspired me! I am aiming to be a quilt explorer verses a quilt expert. I'm excited to share what inspires me and will look forward to hearing more about what inspires you!

John, my husband, joins me in Colorado Threadworks, too, providing technical, media, and management support. I'm grateful for his talents to help this new venture grow!

When I'm not quilting, I enjoy time with my family (my awesome husband will carry the fabric bolts when shopping at the quilt store!), traveling, spending time in the mountains, gardening, and crafting. We love living in Colorado, our beautiful home state!

Thank you for checking my webpage out! If I can help you with your beautiful quilts, feel free to contact me.

Thanks!
