I believe that our quilts tell wonderful stories, and those stories can be enhanced by adding actual words to our quilts. Adding words can tell more of our quilts story, celebrate important moments, and create a meaningful heirloom.
I wanted to add words to my quilts to tell more of the quilt's story. When I got started I had a hard time finding techniques that were easy and even fun for me. Traditional methods felt too limiting. I could piece the letters, but the design options were confined to how the blocks were pieced together. I wanted the look of chalkboard art or greeting cards stitched into fabric. That curiosity led me to experiment with new materials, techniques, and materials.
Through this play, I discovered how to use my Cricut Maker and heat transfer vinyl to create detailed lettering for quilts, labels, and appliqué. I started using these new techniques to make 10” art quilts featuring favorite quotes that I’ve dubbed “Quilt Tales.”
Now I’m excited to share everything I’ve learned in my new online class “3 Easy Ways to Add Letters to Your Quilts” class bundle!
